Disclaimer

Neither the Mentor nor the Department, shall bear any responsibility for any likely outcome of the research project. During and after the course of the mentoring process, neither any comment of the Mentor nor any observation by them, shall be construed as a promise or guarantee about the likely result or outcome.

Mentor’s comments shall only be construed as expressions of their experience-based personal opinion. These shall not be deemed binding as a guarantee, nor shall be deemed as representations or warranties, and in no way bind either the Mentor or the Department.

All information and opinions shared with the mentee during the course of mentoring as well as all discussions undertaken for educational and research purposes, shall be confidential and both parties shall bear the responsibility of ensuring the confidentiality of personal and professional information.

The purpose of mentoring shall only be restricted to provision of guidance and instructions (where necessary) by the Mentor. Any guidance provided by the Mentor shall be for educational and research purposes. All information provided by the Mentor shall be for general guidance on matters of interest and matters of relevance only.

Carrying out the research work is and will remain the mentee’s own responsibility. Mentees will bear full and exclusive responsibility for conducting research, preparing work and making improvements in light of the feedback given by the Mentor. The Mentor’s role is usually considered and limited to providing detailed guidance and feedback; in form of suggestions or comments in the draft files. Mentors shall not be expected to edit the work draft for mentees or bear any responsibility for reducing word counts (where applicable).

Mentors and/or the Department shall not be held accountable and shall bear no responsibility for any errors or omissions in the draft work and /or the final files submitted by the mentee. Mentees bear the sole responsibility for making all necessary changes and improvements; in-line with the feedback provided by the Mentor.

A final review will be arranged and carried out by the Department, following all relevant guidelines and confidentiality of the professional work shall be ensured during and after the review; indefinitely. The review will be carried out as per a schedule communicated by the Department. In the event that the mentee fails to have their project reviewed as per the agreed schedule, neither the Department nor the Mentor shall bear any responsibility for arranging a second-review.

Submission of the Research and Analysis Project is exclusively and solely the responsibility of mentee and neither the Mentor nor the Department assume any responsibility in this regard.

Having your work researched, produced, written, edited, formatted or even paraphrased by anyone else, amounts to plagiarism. Plagiarism is a criminal offence in the United Kingdom and carries repercussions by each professional body, depending upon the gravity of the matter. With reference to the Research and Analysis Project submitted to Oxford Brookes University, projects can fail in the event that academic misconduct (including plagiarism) is detected by the examiner/s and established by the Academic Conduct Officer. OBU also reserves the right to bar such students from making any further resubmissions to the University. Also, OBU reserves the right to report such matters to ACCA for investigation; after which, ACCA may decide to suspend the student and/or permanently cancel their ACCA membership. This means, if you are a student, you will be barred from taking any further ACCA examination, if you are an affiliate, your affiliate status may be permanently revoked, and if you are already a member, your membership may be permanently excluded from ACCA’s records.

In the event that our mentor/s find or come across any evidence whatsoever, that a mentee has in the past or currently indulges in plagiarism, the mentor-mentee relationship shall be deemed to have expired, on the mentor’s discretion.

Mentors and the Department reserve the right to report mentees to the relevant professional and/or regulatory body for any misconduct including plagiarism. We, as a Department and as an institute, do not, under any circumstances, promote, support or encourage any unethical practices including plagiarism.

Any mentee found to have been involved in or reported to have been attempting to solicit the Mentor into researching, producing, writing, editing, formatting or even paraphrasing their research work and/or any part of the research report, shall be construed to have been involved in professional misconduct and shall be reported to the relevant professional bodies.

In the event that a mentee is found to have had their research project written or produced by any third party, apart from their own self, such a mentee shall be construed to have indulged in plagiarism; which is a criminal offence in the UK. Such mentees shall be reported to the relevant professional bodies, upon the Mentor’s and/or Department’s discretion.

Non-payment of fee within the pre-agreed deadline and/or according to the pre-agreed schedule, shall amount to an immediate expiry of the mentor-mentee relationship and no further services shall be provided to any such mentees. The Mentor and/or Department bears no responsibility for loss of any work and/or delays in submission caused by this.

Any and all correspondence between the Mentor and mentee, and/or with the Department, shall be kept strictly confidential, indefinitely, and shall not be disclosed.

Mentors reserve the right to sign-off the Research and Analysis Projects. In the event that a Mentor concludes that a Research and Analysis Project should not be submitted, due to academic reasons, their say shall be deemed final. The Department shall not pressurize or compel any Mentor to sign-off on any Research and Analysis Project that is of an unsatisfactory academic or professional quality.
